Every Cable System Is Only as Strong as Its Connections
Continuous monitoring and predictive analytics for cable splices and terminations — the leading point of failure in power cable systems.
The Weakest Link in Every Cable System
Cable systems don't fail in the middle of a cable run. They fail at the connection points — splices and terminations. These joints are responsible for the majority of cable system failures across utility, industrial, and energy infrastructure. And right now, most of them are completely unmonitored.
Operators have no visibility into what's happening at these critical points between scheduled inspections. By the time a fault is detected, it's already an emergency — with direct repair costs, lost production, customer impact, and safety consequences that follow.
The problem is getting worse. Global cable infrastructure is expanding to meet growing electricity demand, renewable energy integration, and electrification. More cable means more connection points, more potential failure sites, and a widening gap between what's installed and what's actually monitored.
Cable connection points account for more than 55% of grid failures — and most are unmonitored between scheduled inspections.

The Sensor
- •Clamp-on, non-invasive smart sensor for cable splices and terminations — installs on existing infrastructure without an outage.
- •Built for harsh environments: direct-buried, underground vaults, concrete enclosures, and subsea-adjacent installations.
- •Continuously monitors the parameters that indicate insulation health and early degradation.
The Analytics Platform
- •Cloud-based analytics that go beyond threshold alerting — tracking how insulation condition evolves over time.
- •Actionable insights for proactive maintenance planning, helping operators avoid costly unplanned outages.
- •Calibrated uncertainty quantification — the system communicates what it knows and how confident it is, so operators can act with confidence.
Built for Critical Infrastructure
Distribution Utilities
Aging underground networks with limited visibility into asset condition
Data Centers
Zero tolerance for unplanned power interruption in the most power-dependent facilities on earth
Oil & Gas
Maintaining power reliability in remote, hazardous, and high-consequence environments
Renewable Energy
Protecting onshore wind and utility-scale solar collection systems where cable connection failures drive unplanned outages and lost generation
Maritime
Onboard vessel electrical systems where vibration and corrosion drive high cable-connection failure rates and a power outage becomes a safety emergency
Industrial & Mining
Critical power distribution in demanding operational environments where outages halt production

About Splice N Connect
Splice N Connect is a Calgary-based energy technology company modernizing electrical grid reliability through continuous monitoring of the most failure-prone components of electrical infrastructure — cable splices and terminations.
Founded through the 2023 Avatar Innovations Studio, we are commercializing a proprietary, non-invasive smart-sensing device and analytics platform that gives utilities, renewable energy operators, and large industrial users continuous, predictive visibility into network health.
Our work is backed by Avatar Leadership Fund, Phoenix Fire Archangel Network, Valhalla Private Capital, Startup TNT, and a group of family offices and angel investors. We are alumni of the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Rockies program, VentureLAB, and Decentralised Energy Canada — and winners of the 2024 Decentralised Energy Canada Pitch Competition.
